The story is set in the Philadelphia Elementary school, this show stars Brunson playing Janine Teagues, an enthusiastic teacher who is determined to change how her pupils live their lives. In season 2 Janine is back at Abbott Elementary with the rest of her colleagues: Ava Coleman (Janelle James) who is the principal with no qualifications; Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph) an experienced teacher with an abundance of experience; Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter) who is a Philly native with significant contacts; Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti) an aspiring colleague who was hired by Janine as well as Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams) who is a newly appointed full-time teacher.

Similar to the first season Like in season 1, the Abbott teachers will need to overcome the tough issues that arise from working in a school that isn’t well-funded.
