The 10th episode of The Midnight Club starts with us in 1968 when we finally discover what transpired to Julia Jayne. After she has left at the middle of the night she meets a woman named Regina who turns out to be the mother of Athena. Then, we cut to the present time, where Shasta is able to escape and Stanton calls an ambulance in order to find help for the women. Inside her home office Stanton informs Ilonka of the fact that Julia was arrested repeatedly over time usually for trespassing and breaking and entering and harassment. She’s not thrilled with Ilonka for stepping up behind her behind, however, Ilonka insists that Julia was healed and that this particular ritual was the cause. Stanton is furious, insisting she believes that Sandra and Julia had a chance to be lucky due to their incorrect diagnosis.
Ilonka is faced with a huge decision, and she decides to quit Brightcliffe and return home. In the meantime, Amesh starts to slip. He has an area of blindness in his eyes that appears to be like a shadow that is moving toward him. He’s also having trouble with his motor skills as well. Who’s to be home?
Episode 10 from The Midnight Club starts with us in 1968, when we finally discover what was happening to Julia Jayne. When she leaves in the middle of the night she meets a woman named Regina who happens to be the mother of Athena. She also attempted an act of worship, but despite succeeding in her endeavor her efforts are rescinded by the group. She finds a spark through Julia she decides to show her the lessons she has learned.
Then we go into the current in which Shasta escapes and Stanton dials an ambulance in order to assist these women. Inside her home office Stanton says to Ilonka that Julia has been detained several times throughout the years most often for trespassing, breaking and entering, and harassment. She’s not thrilled with Ilonka for stepping up behind her back, but Ilonka insists that Julia was healed and that this was the reason. Stanton is furious, insisting she believes that Sandra and Julia were lucky to have their incorrect diagnosis.
Ilonka takes a major decision to decide to take a big step and decides to leave Brightcliffe and return back home. While she is there, Amesh starts to slip. He has an area of blindness in his eyes that appears to appear to be like a shadow that is moving close to him. He’s also having trouble with his motor abilities too. He’s obviously scared when he tells Natsuki about all this but there’s an upside – Amesh’s parents will be coming.
What is the end of Kevin’s story?
Kevin splits with Katherine after which he heads out with the group to prepare to go to the Midnight Club. Ilonka arrives late when Kevin decides to write his story on Sheila along with Dusty.
In the story, Sheila kills Dusty’s mother, breaking her grip of hypnosis on Dusty. This also results in permitting all children to be raised to heaven.
Strange green gas emerges out of the mother of Dusty and gets into Dusty himself. As he picks up the hammer Dusty is controlled by the nefarious ghosts… till Dusty is stabbed by the Hammer. Sheila is forced to take a stand and she swats at the behest of Dusty to knock him out… however, she spares Dusty enough to send Dusty into a psych ward, where he spends the rest of his days.
Cheri and the rest of the cast aren’t thrilled with the story and they come up with a different conclusion, choosing to mix everything we’ve heard during the course of the season. Does it work? It doesn’t matter. it is important that the story has an enjoyable, happy conclusion.
What will happen when Midnight Club season 1 ends?
After the story is over, Ilonka is able to talk about the story to Kevin about his experience and explains that Dusty’s destiny doesn’t have to be solely his. He’s not alone this time. Kevin also has something to say: he loves her. But, since the pair of them are likely to end up dying, Kevin admits that’s no reason why they shouldn’t live. The two kiss.
As the episode winds down and the episode ends, we are given some answers but we also get a few more, which we’ll discuss within a second. The camera follows Dr. Stanton through the main entrance, from which she locks the door and returns to her desk. As we travel we come across a photo frame that confirms who the old couple we’ve seen is actually. It’s Stanley along with Vera Freelan, who both designed the house.
Stanton walks to her office and removes her wig and reveals herself to be completely bald. She also sports the Hourglass symbol at the side of her neck and leaves many questions about this show.

What about Cheri’s previous? Did we find out anything about her this season? What did happen to Shasta? What happens to the other children? What’s the reason this was billed as horror when there’s been the tiniest bit of it?
In a sense, you can spot Flanagan’s formula throughout these series and there’s certainly at least a common concept that runs through all story. I’m sure a lot of people loved Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass, but each of them had a good concept, but no real execution regarding the terror aspect.
Bly Manor focused on love as Midnight Mass tackled religion. Midnight Club, by comparison, is focused on death, and you’d think that with the same premise it could make way for some quite terrifying scenes. The Haunting Of Hill House. What we end up with isn’t nearly as terrifying as the Goosebumps or Are You Scared Of The Dark story.
I’m not saying that it’s bad this show has been very visually appealing and the imaginative way that we’ve seen these stories unfold is a wonderful method of framing the idea of death and our personal existence.
Characterizations have been great for a few characters and Anya is the absolute best of them all. However, when she died she also created an immense gap in the show, and the other characters were unable to fill the gap because of insufficient characterization.
Spence for instance has a very moving story, but it was necessary to wait until episode 9 to see that. What happened to him? Why didn’t he tell his own story of being rejected by society, maybe riffing on the notion of invisibleness to use as an allegory of the fact that he is not seen? This kind of thing could have been effective instead of feeling like an added nudge after the fact.
In the end, Midnight Club has been somewhat of a failure. Sure, there are some good moments as well as a few excellent jumps scares, but more than that, this series is a divisive addition to the Flanagan catalog.
